“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
Read this verse over and over What is God whispering to you?
Believe it or not we are still in Christmas. From Christmas until the Epiphany (January 6th) is official Christmas time but, you wouldn’t know it according to the rest of the world. This is the ninth day of the twelve days of Christmas. Yes, like the song. On the twelfth day the Wise men come. I thought it would be good to bring this up since we are talking about light this morning.
It is also interesting as we think about who Jesus is. He is the light of the world. He is Word become flesh. He is the lamp to my feet; the light for my path. Can you see? Is there a better way to start the new year than to look to the light?
How can we apply this to our daily walk? As we continue into the new year we need to remember why we are here. Our purpose is to worship God. Our purpose is to follow God. It is to point others to God. We are to love God with all our being and love others as our selves. How do we know this? We know it because the Bible says so.
Our verse today reminds us that God’s Word, the Bible, contains all we need to know to walk through this life. It shows us the way. Lighting the dark areas that may have traps for us. Keeps us on a safe path. But this means we must use it as our light, as our guide. If you are looking for a new year resolution make it to read and study the Bible more. To pray and allow God to light our path so we know which way to go. If you have never read the Bible in a year try that. There are many guides on the internet to help you do this. There are even ones that you listen to if reading isn’t your thing. Let God’s Word become the light for your path.
