“You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.” 2 Samuel 22:29
Read this verse over and over. What is God whispering to you?
This morning the whisper I hear is “shine.” Our verse comes from a Song of praise by King David. Praising God is something that we need to do on a regular basis. Why wouldn’t you thank God for shining in your darkness?
To be honest I’m not sure what it would be like to live in darkness, without God’s light shining. I have had one experience with darkness in a dream many years ago and I don’t intend to ever experience that again. It was a dream, but it felt so real. Darkness that surrounded me. A darkness that I could feel until I cried out to Jesus to save me. Instantly Jesus shined.
I’ve been in the pitch black, where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face but that isn’t as bad as darkness without God’s light. Living without God is living lost. It is trying to live without knowing which way is up or what direction you should go. Living with out God is not living. Yet there are so many around us who exist this way.
We need to shine the light of Jesus so that all may see the truth. The darkness that is all around us is no place to stay. It is no place to live. We need to shine so that people can see. We need to point the way to Jesus, so people will know the difference. So that it is not our fault if they continue to live in darkness.
I praise God that He shines in my life. I pray that He will use me to shine His light in the darkness so that those I meet may see the truth. That those around me may know Jesus as their Savior. I also pray the same for you. Go now and shine!
